Hill 5 blades on 21 Cougar Tunnel
Hi everyone,
I did some search and couldn't find back the post where Wildman states the number he got when testing the liberators with different props with 21 Liberator and 300R.
If I recall properly I think he said he didn't touch 100 mph with other style props and 106-108 with Hill 5 blades.
What is your experience with those props and maybe Randy can chime in...?
Actually running a 32 Bravo 1 FS and I know it's not the right prop for that application but that's what I've found quick to do my first tests last year. Carries the bow good at low speed though. But I know I need to run a stern lifting prop and Bravo isn't even considered a surface piercing prop.
Use to run a Merc racing Humpback overhub Cleaver with my 260 and it worked great. Thinking about going with a Hill 400 TH as it seems to be the way to go.
Btw it's to pair with a 332 SHO
Thanks all in advance for your knowledgeLast edited by jimmybrie; 07-14-2025 at 08:42 AM.

I ran 32 Hill thru hubs on my 25 Liberator with twin 300R's. Ran 115mph on multiple occasions. Tried several other style of props and always went back to the Hill thru hubs. Some say the overhub clever might have been a little faster on top end. I never tried them. 115 and pretty good getting on plane was ok by me.

Got 101 mph @ 6500 last time out 2 in the boat, 1/2 tank and around 100-150 lbs gear with the Bravo FS... not bad it's around 10% slip... wonder what's the real difference between a Signature over hub and TH400 on top...? Thru hub should be way better on cavitation I guess?

For what it's worth, I never heard of anyone doing any better than 115mph with 25 Liberator and stock 300R's whether over or through hub. If 1.62 gear and 32 pitch, 101mph is more like 17% slip by my math. 115 with 32 pitch is 5%. Unless I'm missing something which is possible.

The Sho is 1.75 so I think 10% is ok. I think you're right about thruhub vs overhub and that's about what Zach at Hill Marine had to say about it... not a big difference espescially for a small single engine tunnel. So I have ordered a TH400 32p and we'll see how it does. Just don't know when I'll be able to test it.
Thanks
