Keith .. that's an amazing offer. The pictures you have sent me of Bandyland are that of a "western paradise" without question. Last month I went to Orlando Speedworld (1.5 hrs away) on a track rental day to help my good friend out with his small tire nitrous truck. I had a good time, but it also showed me that my days of being on the road or away from home are way behind me.
Thank you for the offer ... it does mean a lot

Yes the 300xs is legal in Div 6. Has to be stock as delivered from Merc. except that the computer can be remapped and air horn. Any other mods would push it into Div 7

Assembled an early 260. Had one sleeve installed and the machinist said the other five weren't particularly great as far as being round. Found a crank and sent 5 used and 1 new piston to US1. John said he liked using used pistons with new rings.
My plan is to put carbs on it and break it in. I have WH 22,46 and 20's. Also picked up a set of WMH 47's. Haven't found much discussion on the WMH 47 carbs or if they can handle the sloppy water. Has anyone used them with any success. I have some small chamber C2 heads for it which I believe are around 33cc. If the 3rd mota I've assembled survives break in, the plan is to run the Enduro with it and try to keep the RPM's between 6700 and 7200 max depending on water conditions and fuel weight. And hopefully the correct cooling mods to keep this 260 happy. 88 to 94mph would be fun and without any issues will put us in the hunt for a Div6

Don't remember all the details. Was a Seebold hull with Merc 1500XS power (badged as a Mariner, as sponsor was a Mariner dealer). Div 3 I think. Finished either 5th or 6th, with a broken mid-section. Held the powerhead on the last hour with ratchet straps run from the lower cowling, and under the cav plate and up the other side to lower cowl. 3 drivers.
Don't remember details of '83, but pretty sure we didn't finish. Ran this green Seabold that year.

If memory serves this is going to be my 27th time running and or setting up at least one boat to run the race. Have won div or overall I believe 10 times. One year crossed the finish line first only to get penalized a lap for aggressive driving. The first year I drove was in 1976. First div win was in 78 and also rigged the overall winner that year. Had a couple heart breaks as well while leading, once with an engine failure on the last lap and another a broken AN fitting on the fuel line with less than 10 minutes to run. Through the years have broken 2 prop shafts, one crank, and 2 rods right at the wrist pin with no damage to the piston. One of the biggest things I have learned is that set up for consistency is key. Fun race that is hard on equipment.

First year was a 19 foot Kona V bottom that was used as a plug for a new mold (bought at an auction). We put a wood deck on it and ran a first year 200HP Evinrude. My father and I drove it. Fuel consumption numbers we were given were way off and we ran out of fuel on the last lap of the first leg, we thought that 2 more laps were doable. I think we ended up 3 in class that year. Crew was all family members along with a couple of customers from the business. Dad had run before with a 18 foot Patterson flat bottom powered by a 500 inch Hemi, he got hosed down by a boat on the wrong side of the coarse and the webers got a big shot of water and it caved a piston dome. I remember dad taking me to watch the race starting around age 13, I will be just shy of 68 this year.

Big Al, you have always been the man to beat, very smooth,
I always wondered who was first with the similar design hulls, original Baker or Sleekcraft ?
thought not the same, but close and appeared at the same time frame... from the west coast ?
I remember the 1983 MVP champion Kim Howard and his Sleekcraft and your design appearing at the same time ...
What was the story on those two designs ?

Cuda thanks for the kind words.
I remember the Eliminator Daytona as being the first MODVP style boat commercially built but as a jet. It was followed by the Taylor and Sleekcraft. Dad and I built the Baker V bottom plug and around mid 1980 built the RST plug, it was first raced at the St Louis powerboat shootout, boat had been out of the mold for less than 2 weeks. We built the 20.1 SST in late 82 and first raced at the 82 Havasu classic, one of the 2 did not see water until Havasu.
