This reminds me of an article I read in one of the car magazines as a young man, (back when there were car magazines, lol). But the writer of the article pointed out that it was all but unheard of for the CEO of a Porsche or BMW, to not have come from racing. That is was all but unheard of for a CEO at Honda, to not have come from engineering. That is was all but unheard of for the CEO or a Detroit automaker, to not have from bean counting.

It sounds like Mercury has it's leadership well-grounded in racing. Or at least it's leadership backs the racing culture.
