I just saw one up here in Long Boat Key this wknd. The snorkel is silly, the map on the side is comical, and it would never get far into the Big Cypress. You need 40's at least to go into there. You would be using that winch all day. 55 grand and go into the bad stuff? You would have to be nuts. Dirt roads and a little mud Is OK. I want a base with the squatch pkg. I like the little motor too. Manual trans also the best. And yes, it's not like the "old days" here anymore.

Lake, in the early days here you would have several builds going at one time. Many guys that were very legit boat and engine builders posting about their current projects and up coming projects. Racers and wanna be racers. Boat clubs going at it every week at local places arguing about who's boat was fastest. Very raucous debates about anything and everything. (would have been lots of banter about the new Bronco's) None of it PC like it is now. It was a great time to be into hi-performance boating. Guys here didn't buy their speed stuff, they built it! Still some old timers here but the pack is getting thin. (thanks Facebook) I am even having thoughts of selling my V-King and going to a bigger go-fast. But, it's going to be hard to let go of my King.

I hear ya. I was a member of some great forums that are no longer. Very very active back in the day. I’d say peak forum was around 2002-2005 those years were nuts but amazing at the same time. I used to lurk here from time to time over the years. I always knew I was going to get a Vking and rip it just took longer than I expected. Time really starts to roll on by as the years pass. I still love this site though it’s heaps of fun and now that I’m semi experienced I can help out a lot of guys too which is the pay back for all the edumacatun I done got when I was just a green gilled no nuthin newb. I think too the younger crowd by sheer percentages just ain’t into the gear head stuff as much. They like it but ain’t as hungry for it as we were when we were scrappy teens

You hit the nail on the head for the peak forum years. My god the amount of time/posts I have in some forums back in that time period lol. Wish I had gotten into Performance Boats a long time ago but I'm glad to see a forum that is still somewhat active. I bought a Raptor a few months ago and the Ford Raptor forum is fairly active surprisingly as well. Facebook groups definitely tanked a lot of forums.
