just shuts off

out today after 30 min about 30 mph engine cut clean off. primer bulb full. starts right back up. on plane again 10 min. cut off clean again. did it three times, starts back up immediately. 2.4 efi. charging 13v. all dash 12v stays on, inj led stays on, no intermittent contacts. engine turns off clean. ??? no loose wires found.

The electric EFI fuel pump? Bad key switch or kill switch?

dont think its fuel because it starts back up with 1 crank, instantly

Have seen this issue numerous times at the dealer level. Typically loose battery cables or the most likely is the 8 pin connector at the engine where the 8 pin control harness mates with/ connects to the 8 pin engine connector. Wiggle the 8 pin connector while running at idle, if it cuts out spread all 8 pins and test again. Good luck.

I had a similar problem with a 260 and it was the ecu. I could restart and not even come off plane ! Changed the ecu and never had another problem

i thought about trying that trick, going out right now. cleaned all plugs/cables+ have another brain i could try.

imcant help myself, thank you.its a gift but a curse also. what a day. motor fixed. my drag4 prop dissapointing,lots of slip 70 @7000, trophy 70@6000. skater18,2.4 220. both props 26p. boat too heavy for drag4,1200lbs 8'beam, im a old gearhead for sure..

i hit the ecu plugs with brake/clean. no more trouble today ran like a champ. great tip merc! my other rig 2.5 started doing the same thing;shut off twice!! bad 1/2moon control box plug for sure; just happen to have a new one..
