    Experiences with plasicore

    I picked up box Plasicore , did few tests with 1708 / VE resin , appears Ultra light and tough . This is honeycomb . Who here has used it .

    Used lots of Nidacore honeycomb, should be a similar product.

    perfect for core rather than balsa ? Cant do balsa for many reasons . Thx for the reply

    we call it core/plast. if you think thats strong, look a alumacore, its coreplast w/a thin alum skin bonded to both sides. my sign co. used tons of it. used for aircraft floors

    I have seen that product , I have seen it on a sign . Not going to work for boat coring . Plasicore like balsa very flexible

    I used glass matted plas/core (honeycomb) to eliminate the floor locker in my Allison XTB about 5 years ago. Glass matted each side of it and it is incredibly strong. When you step on the middle of it and all your weight is on one foot you cannot feel it "give" a bit.

    Also using it now to replace the bottom (subfloor) in a CMF fishing boat that was originally built with a plywood subfloor. I made a keel out of coosa and 5/8" plas/core, then screwed it to the sheet of plas/core for the floor itself. Wally Lamkin told me to glass mat each side, with two layers on the bottom.

    This stuff is incredibly strong with a couple layers of glass mat/resin on it.

    nidacore / plascore and alternatives are great for floors or other flat panels. Super light and stiff. It isn't nearly tough enough for a running surface core. Finishing the edges can be a pain, it wants to have square cuts where you can fillet & tape to the adjacent panel.
