VST delete on a 300 xs OPTI

Anyone ever try this? With the cost of two new pumps and seals has me thinking. The fuel regulator is in the rail and has a return line. The vst pump is 24 gph 112 psi rating. Pump I use on my 2.5 motors is 71 gph 120 psi rating. Should be better for it.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. I got rid of the VST on my Etec and put a pump in the boat and a return regulator on the engine with a fuel pressor sensor and a gauge on the dash so I can monitor fuel pressure... Working fine so far.

With the regulators in the rail and the precise pressure differences between the air and the fuel pressures I personally would leave it stock. Either stock or delete the whole system in the rails and all of that. Put external regulators, block off the rails and do a complete re-design. Sure it may be easier than a standard vst delete in some ways cause the regulators are not vacuum referenced per say, but they are influenced by other factors.

I know the price of the fuel pumps is a hard pill to swallow...but if you run the motor all the time and dont let bad gas/motor sit those pumps should last forever. I know some optis that have over 3000 hrs on the original fuel pumps and powerheads... Worst thing for you would be to replace all the pumps and then your fuel pressure reg to go bad. Then you fix that and your tracker go bad, then you fix that and your air reg go bad...Yes there are a lot of expensive parts in the system but they all work together in symbiosis. Taking apart half the system is not going to make it easier or cheaper to maintain.
