new (to me) Hydrostream with 280
Just bought a Hydrostream Voyager XT with a 280. Good friend bought this boat a couple years ago. Nearly perfect condition and appointed very well. Decent tandem trailer with surge brakes. Snap on covers for the bow and cockpit plus a mooring cover. Motor came with a 26 Promax prop and a Lightning ET. Has hydrolic steering, Sea Star jack plate, very nice stereo, mechanical trim gauge, recall tach, and GPS speedo. Unfortunately the motor has a bad cylinder so I am going to replace it, maybe, with a 200xs I have had for a while now.

Very nice. That will be a fun ride. What are you doing with the 280 may I ask?

Not sure if I am going to fix it or maybe part it. Either way it is going to be sold. I have too many motors now.

Very nice, I had one with a 300XS and that was one fun ride. Good that you have the cockpit cover as I did not and had a hard time keeping the carpet under the cushions dry when it would rain or get wet. Was constantly pulling stuff out to sponge it out so it would not mildew. They are nice boats, had I kept it I was going to get snaps installed and a cockpit cover, would have made things a lot easier!

Well, the boat now belongs to another S&F member. He purchased boat without the 280 so now I have to decided what to do with it. Beautiful motor but pretty pricey to fix. Time will tell.

That may be a S&F record for turnover time.

This belonged to an old friend I used to boat with alot back in the 80s. He had a 16' Checkmate with a 150 pro v and I had a Viking with a 200. He always liked the Stream and 40 years later bought one. After he killed the motor I told him I would make a few calls and see if I could sell it for him. Couple guys expressed interest but when it came time to buy they had reasons why not to buy so I bought it. After I bought it I made a call to a friend that knew Hydrostreams better than I to ask a couple questions about their construction and he expressed interest. He and his wife came to look at it and bought it. Went to a good home and a great guy that will not only take good care of it but will most likely make it much better. I might even get to ride in it later.
