Upper Crankcase Seal

Hello all..
Looking for some info on upper seal installation.

The motor is a Merc 2000 125hp 2 stroke that I'm resealing.

My question is the upper crankcase seal. Are the lips facing up or down,,, seal numbers up or down? The service manual isn't clear on this.
Unfortunately, I did not notate the upper seal when I removed it, but I think the numbers face up?
