What is the top speed for the above setup?

Todd Ds new 24 tunnel will use the 300r for the new offshore single-motor class for true tunnels no speed limit

In Europe, they run 225hp and paper-thin boats

But APBA demanded higher safety standards which increased the weight by a 1/3 so the 300r will be standard,

Now In Europe, they also race a single V bottom at the same time with the same motors

The good thing is no full safety canopy requirement like the tunnel class

So Get your Tuff Boys together and race,

The class #7 that they have now has a 60 MPH speed limit GPS

These two new classes will not be speed-regulated.

My tuff 25 with 300r is currently at 107 mph in 90 degree weather high humidity and a full tank of
    fuel. Second prop tried.
    it will go
over 110, then we modify the motor!
my boats is 1350lbs without any rigging interior etc (shell weight) it is designed to bump and grind.
    60mph isn’t racing

Then you are the same weight as the bare 24 cat built out of epoxy/foam/special carbon weave, just fancy stitching carbon and epoxy.
Full overbuilt driver safety cell area, with a tunnel escape hatch, He said $8,000 just for one

Same speed also, the first testing is just going on now, only two boats built, and now he wants to build a new mold, he was in a hurry and just wanted to get a boat wet to test, the new mold will have different seam area to simplify fairing where boat is seamed.
side surface flat area not radius as now,

Anyhow offshore racing with a V VS a CAT, give me the V any day.

Yeah on a truly calm day the cat has the advantage, but we don't get that many flat water days.

So Mercury is involved in Todd Ds project, I quess they wanted to see the differences between the new 200r, 250r 300r

on the same setup, But the 300r is the motor for these new classes,

My question is, How come no Yamaha's or Suzuki 300 hp ?

    What they s c a r e d

Want to get a Tuff 16 for a buzz around boat with about 75 hp. Run MI lakes with 55 speed limit and the cops use radar. Need a boat the tops out at 65 and love the Tuff 16.

the 16' is likely boring at that speed those hulls work so good, you'd have more fun with a voodoo at 65mph

My 16 was a hoot at 55mph and gave me some good driving experience on the pad.

A 90hp 2 stroke Yamaha is the ticket on a 16. At 50+mph you are on the pad and having fun. Mine would go 58 everyday with 2 people.

I think a crossflow V4 would be great, and a looper V4 too heavy. We had a 115 HO Etec on a 16 Baja and it was on the cusp of being too heavy. The Tuff is a smaller 16.

Small boats and calm water are a blast, my first HP boat was a 15 Viper with a 115 Merc. inline 6 2-blade prop

    Lots of smiles

I remember the 150 on the 16. It was a short shaft Promax that belonged to a guy I once knew in Windsor.

What are the odds of finding a used Tuff 16 in the US? Just do not see many.
Hate to see what price they get on a new boat package.
