High speed turns .........
My son has a beautiful Triad STV Rocket. The original owner told us a year or so ago that he once turned it left at 90 mph, HARD left, as hard as he could, and it just grabbed and sat there. But, he said, don't try that to the right.
Weekend before last my son tried it at about 75 mph and said it hooked and sat right back down like it was on a cable. I dunno if he'll ever work up the nerve to try it at 90 (boat will run 120) but it's kinda amazing to me.
So, why can it do this to the left but not to the right? Was the hull originally designed to be a "round and round" boat which always turns left, or does it have something to do with the motor torque?

A right and left turn are different because of prop rotation. I had an STV needle nose years ago. It turned hard. I turned it once hard in slightly choppy water and it grabbed so hard my butt came out of the seat, my head was over the side of the boat, and I lost my sunglasses. They only reason I didn't come out of the boat was the death grip on the wheel and a foot pedal. I caught my breath and realized I saw stars and I didn't bump my head.
That boat of mine taught me some hard lessons on respecting the boat.Jim

If you plan on making MVP-type turns it's good to lower the motor a little from a top end set up.

Thanks, Jim. I've been told that no vehicle ever made pulls as many Gs as an STV in lefty round 'n round races, not even a fighter jet. My friend Rusty Campbell used to race and win in this type competition and he described the left turns as almost violent, for the driver.

Yeah, sitting in a passager seat is a lot different than the driver's seat in an MVP type of boat,
I had an MVP STV and had walls on each side that kept you in one place, the driver seats were built higher on the right side to help keep you in it and were mounted as low as possible,
One day Patrick Eves the Fl OMC factory rep took me for a ride in his personal Mirage, we were on a narrow channel going very fast and he said Hold on, and he spun it around. It's different when you are the passager
The Mirage started life as a Champ boat, they just added a center pod.
Back in the F1 days with OMC V8s, they had a race in Pittsburg three rivers area, those boats would go from 140 MPH to a one bouy turn, that was the best racing I ever saw, to be going faster than any circle race boat and drive around the other way as fast as you can. they had to turn right also because of the crazy race course set up.
