    2000 Mercaha up tilt/trim intermittent

Trims down every time easy peasy.

Does not always trim up, but sometimes. Solenoids click every time, either from the binnacle switch or the switch on the cowl. Makes me think there’s a weak connection somewhere.

Gonna guess corrosion on the high current contacts inside inside the solenoid as the likely culprit. When it works it works normally.

This motor has three solenoids arranged vertically, near the front, on the starboard side. It feels like each solenoid clicks, when I activate a trim switch.

    2000 Merc/Yamaha 90 FourStroke.

Change em both. Not solenoids really...relays. Yes they both click when you trim either direction. Reversing polarity on both legs.

I’m out on a trip away from my Merc manual… there are three… relays… stacked vertically one above the other. Do you know off the top of your head, which two are for trim?

blue and green wires are for trim. The other relay likely has red or white.

Thank mate. So standard Mercury colours. I wasn’t sure since it’s a Yamaha Merc and I’m away on a work trip and can’t get to my manual until Wednesday morning.
