    Prop setup

    1986 Hydrostream Ventura

ID:	532918 16' 6" 650 lbs, 1981 Mercury 150 Black Max, 4" lift & stock foot. Looking for prop advice, Top end only. This motor came with a S.S. Cleaver 14.5 X 21. Thank You for any suggestions.

    How much money do you wanna spend? Lower cost option would be chopper props I’d aim for 26 pitch or so for that motor. Add a water pressure gauge and plug the top 3 holes in your water intakes and jack it as high as you can without losing water pressure.

    Or you could go for a through hub. Fury, tempest, trophy all work well. 24-26p type thing.

    If you want the most out of it you’re gonna need a low water pick up and the ultimate prop would be a lightning et. Spendy mcsendy on that set up. A 28 et with a lwp and the right height it’ll run 70-75 maybe more is my guess

    Thanks for the help, Are these props your talking about all 14.5 Radius?

    Most are. Big ear choppers are all 14.5 and have a lot more bow lift than small ears do. Small ears tend to run faster because they are easier to spin but also easier to break. Most choppers have been worked on and there are lots of mods guys do so it’s not like anyone can say a specific part number chopper is what it was when new. Buy as many as you can and try them all it takes some effort to get the ideal prop. A small ear 26 or maybe 28 might be the ticket for ya
