1997 johnson 90 hp water psi gauge hookup

I dont mess with omc very much. Where do you hook water psi tubing to? I read that you are supposed to put a "T" fitting into the tell tale hose. That doesnt seem like it would work with a crap. water will flow to the least resistance. Any input appreciated.

I wanted to add a water pressure gauge to my OMC 2.6L and posed this question to a very reputable OMC guy from this site…his suggestion was to T into the water dump hose as you mentioned. I bought the kit, cut the line a few inches from where the dump exits the head, inserted the T fitting and that was it. I understand your skepticism but that’s what I did…

Yes. It seemed to work fine. In fairness, I didn’t have a chance to run it for a long time because it was a brand new rig job (engine, steering, shifter, gauges, etc.) on a complete restoration so I had a lot of parts that I was checking and adjusting. I was testing on a flush kit but appeared to have about 10 pounds of pressure (I believe) and when I revved the motor the pressure increased with RPM increases.

The 60 degree engines have a brass plug into the water jacket, remove plug and install water pressure fitting. The some of the 90 degree engines use a T while others do not.

This is a 90 deg motor. Has a plastic elbow towards the bottom of water jacket closer to the starboard side. I will just use a "T" fitting. Thanks
