Dang that’s nasty. I was at a cook out eons ago in my drinking days. We were on a newish deck made out of pressure treat lumber. I had my beer sitting on the deck and reached down from my chair to pick it up. The bottle was all condensate and slipped so I tried to scoop it quick before it all spilled out and I scraped the deck board with my nails and a dog gone 1” long or so sliver of pressure treat went right under my fingernail buried all the way down into the nail bed. We did the red neck doctoring with some small pliers and a razor knife but I guess we didn’t get it all and it festered over the next week. Had to take some antibiotics and soak in epsom salt a couple times a day for a couple weeks to get it settled down. One of my more painful injuries just from a sliver

Was building a retaining wall when I built my folks house and got a huge treated splinter sliding a beam. I wrapped it up to keep blood off everything and when Mom seen it she called a nurse friend to get a pair of needle nose tweezers. Once she told the nurse what happened the nurse said to get me to the hospital cuz the treated lumber has strychnine in it. I fought with Mom for a few minutes before I remembered you never win fights with Mom so I went to the emergency room. Doctor dug around in my hand for about 15 minutes then scrubbed it with a brush and some orange stuff before sewing me back up. Hurt like hell and wasted most of the afternoon.

Damn, y'all had some nasty splinters. Mine came from sliding around on my GranPa's wooden floors in his house.

Video almost looks fake, but I had a similar one (about 1/3 the length that ran under the callous on the ball of my foot. A toothpick stuck in the carpet under my computer chair I slid my bare foot into. Wife could not bring herself to pull it out (I was not happy), I could not get to it, and we were leaving for 2 weeks in Iceland and to run a half marathon. I tried to see a doc in a clinic (weird setup because Iceland is all socialized medicine, no niche for a tourist) who told me he could not do "surgery" in his clinic. Walked the half marathon, and traipsed around Iceland for two weeks with it in. Did not hurt that much, I think it slid between my heavy callous and my living flesh. Got home, sat on the floor with tweezers, a needle and a hand held mirror, and it came out with no problem.
