Screw outboards, I want a Cummins
I've been driving a Cummins pickup for over 30 years now,
They don't break down, and for the price of outboards now.
I want a Cummins, and I'm sure they can twist a tall prop with ease. Torque monsters, I'm hooked on torque
High HP is cool on a motorcycle, my red line is 10,500, but it doesn't really come on till 6,000 rpm, which is cool for a
race motor but not a heavy boat, but in the water with high drag, give me a motor that spins 1,600 RPM and makes
serious power, oil changes at 15,000 miles on the road, that's crazy good.
Does anyone know the price of a mercury 6.7 full set up?

That new 52 ft Kraken would get much better fuel mileage with two Cummins than 48 cylinders of gas.

That's a sweet ride, I've seen older Express Cruisers but those Motoryachts are rare,
Have you done any trips?
I would like a large condo on the water someday.

Those are impressive power numbers for an engine that is going to see the duty cycle that a marine environment places on an engine.. EG sustained high load situations.. For the high GVW commercial type on road applications they detune the engines quite a bit... I guess in the water there is near endless cooling ability available given a large enough heat exchanger.

I didn't know Mercury had a diesel offering,
I'm looking at a 39 Sea Ray EC 1985 that I can get for free by removing the present running gear.
So I was thinking diesel, but the 39 has prop tunnels so It has a shallower draft,
I have an aluminum 30inch swim platform motor mount so I guess outboards will be an easy repower
These boats are 14 ft wide and normally cruise in the low twenties, with tops in the low 30's so a step above a trawler
So I have two low-hour 250XS 25-inch motors that are sitting in my garage for ten years
So I hope to start there, but I'm not sure what to do with all the space from the large engine compartment ... dreams.
I've always wanted a condo on the water, speed is not important.

it is too cheap and simple to buy from someone upgrading, like 400 Veraldos I saw a
pair for $15,000. I bet 400hp outboards will run a lot better than the 454 CI motors that are coming out, transmission, shafts, and big props, It will be a lot lighter with outboards, one guy said I could run in some shallow water if I didn't fill the prop tunnels and set the outboards behind so they would get a clean flow, that will be an experiment.

You cannot beat those Cummins diesels. They push my Sea Ray Motoryacht with ease.
