Does anyone know if the Champion decals are still available????? They are a registered trade-mark, so probably not available unless from the manufacturer. Just about all of the Vintage hulls I've worked on originally had one, or more, of these somewhere on/in the hull. I think there were at least 2 sizes....8" I think and a smaller one.

First I don't have the source..

but..Champion Spark Plugs was a great supporter and sponsor of boat racing.
I had a contract with Champion every year I raced. They supplied you with plugs and service at the races.
Paid a bonus for every race you finished first, second or third..Of course winning paid the best bonus.
I was also an exclusive Champion Spark Plug dealer at my outboard business. (Never a NGK plug in my store)
The decal you see on my boats are the one Champion told me to use.

Lars - Thanks for the information. I knew he was close, but it is never easy when the time comes. As you know, Jackie and I did not always agree, but we were good friends for a long time. My condolences to his family.

Just heard from Cadillac McDaniel that Jackie had passed. Sore with the Eagles, slipping the surly bonds of earth. Bringing this interesting post back up again. I remember Andre's Evinrude mostly because its big engine cover for a V4 in the UIM OI class.
