Hard to imagine breaking even on a robot assembling that... a twelve year-old retarded chimp could assemble those

Did you not watch the video? It's not assembling. It's running an automated CNC shop with multiple CNC machines. These arms probably have already paid for themselves in saved overtime labor costs, health costs, 401k etc. That's why they've purchased 3 of them.

Did you not see what he said .. ???

    new!

built by robots for precise build quality .
New to them .. maybe .. but as stated .. it's a Porta bracket. To copy another is the most sincere form of flattery.

When you assemble a boat .. do you machine it together .. or build it.

If you look at the second video .. you'll see a human assembling a jack plate .. the machines merely make individual parts from blank material ...

Google FANUC Robot arms, which are the ones they use. They are as cheap as $5000. I stand corrected, they probably paid for themselves after the first HOUR. It is 2024, and there is more incentive to cheapen robotic arms than just about anything on this planet

I first started seeing robot arms at the PRI show .. about 20 years ago. They only move parts from machining process to the next process. They don't actually do the work themselves. I thought you would know that ..

I've been to DW boats when they were cutting a plug. Humans still laid up the glass to build a mold and subsequent hulls. But if your so far advanced that you have 'robot arms" laying up boats ... I'd like to see the video ..

I think Scott with Porta use to live in south Houston if its the same guy he had a 19 liberator with a Evinrude 235 and land and sea turbo at one time. He had put the boat and trailer up for sale around 1987-88 and I went and looked at it and while at his shop I think I saw and all stainless Porta he had made. One of the writers for power boat mag had complained about how dirty his motor gets setting in Hudson River and Porta sent him a all stainless porta. The guy wrote in a follow up article stating how happy he was that he could raise his outboard high enough to keep it completely out of the water when not in use I think the writers name was Dick Debartolo,..anyway Porta has been around a long time.

I have a porta on my old charter boat. It was installed in 2000. Still works as new. Faster than ANY other lift I have used. Have rigged many ports' and never hear of a problem with them. Porta told me his stuff was built 10x what was needed. This is why they last FOREVER. I also have 2 paralifts, which I believe he also designed when at mercury. The second best plate I have ever used. As you can tell, i am a porta customer for life. Have installed many of them on customers boats when I did boat work, NEVER had a complaint or heard of any problems. I assure you, they were built by human hands.

Scott has always been a Florida resident. His shops have always been in Edgewater FL. and New Smyrna Beach FL. Again, great guy and very knowledgeable. We raced together, I was in his wedding, we continue to do business projects together, are good friends, and have I his product on all of my boats.

Before I retired, copying with pride was routine in my industry. I think it’s common in more parts of the marine industry than jackplates.

Copy, make some improvements, and compete. Seems like normal business to me, but that might be 30 years of conditioning.
