    Here are some remarks, which I read on the internet, about fast Bass Boats of Yesteryear.
    ~~~~~
    Shadow Bass Boats were manufactured in Corbin, Ky... They are very light...try 900# hull weight without engine...that is about half my Ranger...seems they don't do well on rough water... I have talked to a few guys, and they all said that they were rated for big engines due to good transom design and their light weight gave them the speed. All this info is by memory of others, and I don't know how accurate it is...I can tell you this though...if you see one on the lake...and they want to race...and there is money involved...well.... you might want to swallow your pride and just say "no thanks - I really need to save my gas."
    Shadow Boats were made in Corbin KY, from the 80's to early 90's. These were very light layup boats that really stretched the limits with big block motors of the day......(235 Johnson/Evinrudes). These were very fast boats for the time and were produced in what could be considered "limited" production.
    The main problem of these were the transoms with the light layup. If you see one today with the Shadow name on it, I'd bet the farm that the transom has been rebuilt. To some loyal owners this was not a problem as they sacrificed the cost of a transom rebuild to maintain the speed and keep the unique Shadow name under their belt.
    There were also some problems of delamination of some of the hulls. This probably was also due to the light layup and high speeds these boats were achieving. There were regular V bottom boats and Tunnel Bass versions. The tunnel was the fastest when unloaded and was fairly easy to drive due to being a tunnel by design. What hurt the tunnel was the ability to carry heavy loads and rough water ride suffered somewhat too.
    I used to run an Allison XB2002 CC with a Mariner 225 Magnum in the '90s. Plenty of fun to be had. I used to fish three weekends and drag race one when Tommy Turner was the face of Hot Boat Club. Fishing prop was a 29", race prop was a 26" Predator 4-blade. Looking back at getting smoked outta the hole, I should've gone smaller with the drag prop.
    I know this might not be what people consider a bass boat. But we just got a 2016 Lund pro V 21 foot with a 350 Verrado on it. Which, unfortunately the motor has been set up a little bad, and was wanting to see if anyone had any knowledge of a good jack plate set up and prop to get a little bit more miles per hour out of it and good cruising speed.
    Tidecraft spitfire v15 1982 400lb dry. Yamaha 90 63mph. Steel plate on transom and a 150 scary. I was hitting the throttle from a stop and it would jump clear out of the water prop and all. Splash back down. Was so much fun I did it over and over. Then went fishing, til I noticed there was water in the floor of the boat. Barely made it start, barely made it back to find the batteries had busted loose from their straps and bounced around like pinballs. Took every thru hull fitting right off flush. Livevell drains, bilge exits livewell pickups. Had about 5 holes in the bottom of the boat and didn't know it. Lol
    I had an X270 in 1983 with a 2.6 GT, surprised a few so called go fast tunnel boats. Rode in a Lazer tunnel Bassboat that had a capacity plate that stated “For Competition Purposes Only” with a 2.4 Bridgeport that went well over 100 shaking all the way.
