It was a long month and week leading up to the Enduro and I finally got some time to share our race experience. I would like to congratulate Al Stoker on his repeat performance at this year's race, as he continued to lap us you could tell he was hanging it out there while running with the Nordic.
This was the first year we were able to run our James Perry PM, because in 21 it got held hostage at a shipping dock because of the china virus. (We received it 2 weeks after the race). Last year after breaking it in we lost the fuel pump on friday and didn't plan for a spare and never really got to jump on it to see what it could do.
Our race boat is an 89 20' Baker Rampage 850lb ski hull that stays at my Pop's river house about 1hr down river from Parker Az, so after the summer fun with family and friends it was time to focus on the race.
We started by replacing the fuel delivery system with a 260 type which didn't work so well because we didn't have the little reducing T that crosses over from intake to return feed. Next we tried the Aeromotive setup and still could not get it to run right, even tried to use the stock pressure reducing valve off the stock VST unit by drilling and tapping the bottom for a return line with better results but not where we needed to be.
We decided to go back to stock, removing the PPE slide intake and rebuilding the VST and it seemed we were back in business. After testing we could tell it wasn't running right and after pulling the plugs 1 wasn't showing any color on the piston or plug. With a timing light we confirmed all of the spark plugs were firing SO we ASSUMED an electrical problem, possibly losing spark on the upper RPM's. So we changed all of the coils and tested, we changed and tested the switch boxes, we changed the trigger and stator and tested, still running around 70 and around 5800 rpms. We also had a Brucato and a stock PM ECU we tried swapping.
We did a compression test which was good. We pulled the 38cc heads to install 34's and #1 cylinder still looked brand new. Thought we might have an injector stuck open, I drove halfway home on Wed to meet my wife which had brought me 6 flow tested injectors from Brucato that of course I forgot to pack and returned to my Pop's house.
When we removed all the stuff to get to the injectors, we discovered that #1 injector wire was unplugged.
That one hurt but we were back in business.
Through the boat in on thu morning and running on all 6 felt good. We decided to pack up for the rest of the day and finished a lot of little things that we had put off chasing our tails.
Got to the race early Fri to get our pit and set up. We grabbed a bunch of props and headed up river to test. We tried TXP's 25-27's 3 and 4 blades with some decent results but the two 28 choppers seemed to run around 86 with some decent carry not super fast but we had solved our issues and had a competitor. Also had to run our puking LU into havasu on fri after testing to get it resealed.
Sat morning, I was grinding with the death wheel and of course it broke the blade in half before I touch anything and luckily it only hit my cheek, but I was leaking an hour before the race.
We got a really good jump and start off the beach and after about 200 yards we settled in for the 4 hour race. I was running around 82 with about 35 gallon of fuel and the boat felt and carried well in the sloppy stuff.
On the second lap I felt the engine kind of lay down, as I looked back at the engine, I could see something leaking from the front of the cowling and I looked at my water pressure gauge and it was not working. I realized the hose had come off of the block. Had to pit on the second lap to repair that. Took no fuel and back on the course. On the course I could feel what I thought was a prop blow out when I was around 84 to 86, nothing crazy and I completed about 75 mins on the first leg.
On the second pit stop we swap drivers and found the two bolts going through our 20" smooth back to the exhaust plate had back out and turned our 11min pit stop into about 25min finding tools and tightening.
Unfortunately, my buddy had to come in after about 45mins because of arm pump and his right foot went numb.
With about 90 mins left we topped off the tank and through me back in, and right away I could tell that the motor was off, only running 77 up river and 80 down river and if I tried to lean on it, it seem to slow down more. I found happy place and figured I would just try to finish because the Stoker 250 Etec we were running against got towed to the shore and I thought we were ahead. The Etec had blown a LU and changed it up river from the beach and was back in the race. The Etec would run about 90 in the slop and 96 near the tuleys.
The last leg was just as rough as the first and second, usually when there about 15 boats left running it calms down some. As I took white flag I could tell I was running lite, and wouldn’t you know I ran out of fuel about 1 mile past the start finish line and the race was over. One of the patrol boats brought me some fuel and I noticed that my battery was barely able to fire the engine. I believe that the sprinkler head going off inside the cowling messed with the charging system cause fuel pump and Ecu problems and a fuel delivery or hesitation, what I thought was prop blow out.
We still finished 40 laps and took 2nd in Div6.
We had lots of friends and family again out to support us and we’ll be back next year to give them hell with more knowledge under our belts.
I'm also trying to put a couple lap video together.

Wow. That's nuts. I will say, Baker, I thought you were going to trade paint at the start. Alls well that ends well

Lining up for the start is always crowded and trying to separate each division is always a challenge. It's usually first come first served. I've only been competing in this race for the last 10 year's and I continue to remind myself it's a 4 hour race.
A old time racer once told me racing ain't for p_ssy's.

This Outboard passed some Inboards (starting at the 15:00 minute video timestamp) on the first lap to the first pin turn.
And kudos, to being the first Outboard to the first turn buoy on the first lap.

I'm so sorry I missed this entertainment. When it comes to entertainment, one platform that immediately comes to mind is Slotocash. As a fervent fan of gambling and casino games, I find Slotocash to be the epitome of thrilling and reliable online gaming. The platform offers an extensive library of slots, card games, and progressive jackpots that never fail to keep me engaged for hours on end. I highly recommend https://slotocash.casinologin.mobi/ because it's not just about the addictive gameplay, it's also about usability. With its sleek design and user-friendly interface, navigating through the various options becomes a breeze. Moreover, Slotocash provides ample opportunities for lucrative bonuses and promotions that add an extra layer of excitement to my gaming sessions.
