I think if you gave Musk a shot of truth serum, you would find the cybertruck had two goals. 1- Give his designers some free reign to create something different and outside the norms. 2- To keep Tesla at the top of the news cycle. I think both have been accomplished quite well.

When you tell a little lie and get caught, Hahaaa, that's not gonna help customer loyalty. But..... Elon's got a lot of crap going on.
He's not concerned with a goofy looking go anywhere truck. He's making crazy rockets and satellites. That's where the big money is.

Tesla Cybertruck underwent ‘Al Capone style’ bulletproof testing, Elon Musk reveals

The Tesla Cybertruck underwent “Al Capone-style” bulletproof testing with a Tommy Gun, CEO Elon Musk revealed on X.
A video shared by a member of the Tesla Owners Club of Silicon Valley showed a Cybertruck driving down the highway with what appeared to be around 40-50 bullet holes in the driver’s side of the vehicle.

CEO Elon Musk revealed that the Cybertruck had an “entire drum magazine of a Tommy gun” emptied into the driver door “Al Capone style,” which revealed the truck would keep occupants safe as no bullets penetrated into the cabin.

The testing is extreme, but the Cybertruck is an extreme vehicle. In 2019, when it was unveiled to the public by Musk and Tesla Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen, the team attempted to show the durability and safety of the truck by slamming into the side of it with a sledgehammer, as well as a steel ball, which resulted in a very public window-breaking.
Tesla filed for various parts of the Cybertruck to be capable of extreme durability. A patent revealed that the Cybertruck glass would be more durable and stronger than basically anything that is currently offered on the market.

Fun I suppose, but would I pay more for a truck that was bulletproof? Nope

I did a bit of digging about why China has EV electric car graveyards. It seems to be a combination of having 500 EV manufacturers and an expired tax break for ride sharing. Despite the EV graveyards, China is by far the largest producer and market for EVs in the world. One of three new cars in China is an EV.

    https://www.carscoops.com/2023/08/th...abandoned-evs/

"The short answer to this mystery is the spectacular fall of the once-booming EV car-sharing market in China, similar to what happened with the bike-sharing schemes a few years ago. Thousands of ride-sharing companies were created during the past decade taking advantage of the generous government incentives which were slashed in 2019. This change in combination with other factors, including the lack of free parking spaces and the much-improved newer generation of EVs that made old models obsolete, forced the majority of the ambitious startups into bankruptcy.

On the brighter side, the failed ride-sharing model reportedly accelerated the development of EVs and their greater adoption by the Chinese population. The result of this growth is China becoming the largest market in the world, accounting for 60% of the global EV fleet. Still, the number of local EV makers has been greatly reduced from close to 500 in 2019 to around 100 in 2023 showing that only serious players can survive."

    https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2...0consolidation.

"The scenes recall the aftermath of the nation’s bike-sharing crash in 2018, when tens of millions of bicycles ended up in rivers, ditches and disused parking lots after the rise and fall of startups backed by big tech such as Ofo and Mobike."
About a decade ago, encouraged by government subsidies, hundreds of automakers across China, both established players and startups, waded into electric-car manufacturing. They churned out huge numbers of early-stage EVs — relatively no-frills cars whose batteries in some instances could only run for around 100 kilometers (62 miles) on a charge.

"Those vehicles were mostly bought by ride-hailing companies that leased them to drivers. “At the beginning of China’s EV market, delivery numbers were driven by car-sharing fleets,” said Young Huang, a senior analyst with JSC Automotive, a consultancy with offices in Shanghai and Stuttgart. “Only a few private customers chose to buy them.”

Dave I don't believe any one has ordered one because it was bullet proof

Those junk cars that David is worrying about we junk the day they were made with 60 mile of range

The reason I placed my order was the 500 miles of range, 60 miles of range is a sad joke...

I placed my order within the first few minutes, I should be early on the list, I might list it right away for $300,000. or more

Sucker born every minute, see all the Rump support

November 30th they will post the REAL prices, they were to start at 39,900.

    Tri motor $79,900. ???

Do you think they factored in the charger failure rate in that number? Do you think they factored in the lack of qualified service techs? Nah me either. EV's are not ready for prime time yet, does make you question the media motives for pushing em so hard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3m_z27LJa6o

That's "f"ing hilarious. I wonder how much an hour the person that drives around and puts "Out of Order" signs gets paid. They obviously have to use a gas rig, so they can run all day.

on a side note, the smart money is quietly investing in non renewable power sources as they have realized the woke left have seriously underestimated what green power can do re the total power make up.

So, basically these are "welfare cars" being paid for primarily by the people who don't own or drive them.

Fueling electric vehicles costs roughly the equivalent of $17 a gallon
