    My brother Lennart Ström #21 UIM SE class Sjöberg/Evinrude 1982.

    It's a miracle that the cooling works. The UIM SE class was not allowed to modify the production Nitro gear-case for better water pickup.

    Evinrude - Johnson outboards. Facts, history, racing and OMC.

    Jack Aylsworth

    WE GOT LETTERS

    Typically, you feel blessed if someone says, ”nice catalog cover.” In this case, however, we got dozens of letters. Gorgeous! Beautiful! Fantastic! WOW! Apparently, however, they weren’t referring to the outboard since they also asked: What’s her name? Where does she live? What’s her phone number? (Like we would actually tell anyone that.)
    Few Johnson catalog covers ever received that much attention! I can’t imagine what the response would have been in the internet age.
    Anyway, it was a… ‘nice cover.’

    Looking at both photos, what was Molinari's objective in having different sweep angles (port vs starboard) with the leading edges of the tunnel?

    @WaterZebra

    I do not have the correct answer but I know Renato did a lot of development by building customers boats different.

    Thanks Cathy McConnell

    Jimbo drove this Boat at Parker 1975. The cover of this Powerboat is Parker 1976 with Geoff Briggs and Bobby Larsen driving. The photo is the poster put out by Evinrude.
    Jimbo and Johnnie Sanders were driving the gold and white Goat Boat. There were no American factory sponsored drivers that year.

    I am betting that both Merc and OMC were not happy with Velden's engine hybrid or they remained mum to see which fuel system worked better?

    Well..the powerhead with Merc carbs was used by Barry Woods in the Cardiff ON World Championship race..(old news) Cees raced it earlier 1975.
    Cees himself was racing the first ever looper 2 liter V6 by OMC.. with the new 12 inch (CCC) mid section. Yes..Cees won big and probably the best race ever I have watched..
    This was the powerhead Jimbo won the Miami race a few weeks earlier but used Methanol for the Cardiff ON World Championship race.

    Here is the very unique first ever Evinrude Super Strangler V6 2 liter looper winning with 3/4 of a mile in Miami 1975.
    Of course with Jimbo McConnell behind the wheel. It's a Scotti-Craft.
