license plate readers

I live out in the country and I noticed these poles with solar panels on them. Nothing around them to power so I was curious. Yesterday there was a tech of some sort mounting cameras to the poles. I was driving by so I asked what they were. License plate readers. Anyone else seeing this.

It got too expensive to use the black helicopters so they went this route.

I've seen these around for years down here.

Have you noticed that when a cop passes you going the other direction he immediately looks down at the center of the dash? He’s checking the in car license plate reader. Talk about distracted driving

I live on an island where they clock you on and off electronically. I ALWAYS give the bird as I drive by.

I was driving one of my old trucks on I-95 near Cocoa Beach and thought that I run out of fuel due to the way it was acting (I had just had a new fuel tank put in and figured that the gauge was off). I call for a road ranger and the lady who answered the phone asked what mile marker I was at, I told her that I was a few miles South of the 528/95 intersection but didn't see a mile marker sign within sight. She says hang on for a second, are you in the South bound lanes with a black 4 door 4 wheel drive ford license plate #----? yes I replied, how did know that? she replied, I have you on camera right now, please get back in your truck and I will watch until the ranger arrives. Every mile of 95 along with many other roads are 100% covered with camera surveillance and track every plate that passes by. We are being watched 100% accurate statement....

That seems like a huge waste of resources... I can't even imagine to real cost to install, maintain, and operate that system.
Now that every person on the road has a cell phone with GPS and camera, accidents & incidents probably get reported before the stooge watching the video feeds notices?
