OK.. never mind about the A/P circuit, I found it.. the "pump" which in this case is a reversed vacuum actuator, seems to be working fine.. it is not leaking, and pumping out a burst of air on accel. the one way valve seems to be working fine as well..

Gonna go remove the plugs now.

    PRO-TIP Gentlemen...

DO NOT USE "SHOP PRO" Carb cleaner to spray out your float bowls.. it gives the rubber tips on the needles a case of priapism..

    Ergo.. no fuel to bowls.

hopefully the swelling will go down by morning.

    unbelievable..

I also believe I found the cause of the "stuttering and stammering".. ya..

after pulling the plugs and checking them, checking the plug wires, and tracing back to the coils... I saw a piece of electrical tape over where the grounds for the coils bolt to the head.. what the?...

it was flapping on one end.. upon removing it, I saw that the 10mm bolt that holds the grounds to the head was unscrewed over halfway, with the eyes for the ground flopping around on it..

Seriously.. I am going to ruin this so called marine mechanic at my earliest convenience.. no other bolt on that head was loose... much less covered over with a piece of electrical tape.. with cleanly cut ends.

he is a POS of the highest order.. who does **** like that???

Ok.. Y'all wanted info.. so here it is.. after rebuilding and cleaning the carbs, I kept running into fuel leaks..

I replaced all of the fuel lines, after inspecting them I found 4 slices in them that looked as if they had been done with a razor blade, the ones on the pressure side of the fuel pumps were dripping, the ones on the vacuum side were pulling air.. I had to put some clear line on, run it and see where the air bubbles were coming in.. I replaces all fuel lines.

After putting the ground bolt back in place and removing the tape that was keepin the remainder of it in the hole, cleaning the connections..

and going through the carbs and fuel lines several times.. I finally got it to where it should be.

It idles perfect, transitions into gear perfect and runs perfectly at all RPMs.. low to high, no stalling, bogging nothing.. I made an hour run with it and exercised the heck out of it.. it never missed a beat.

Wide open, trimmed up.. steady 47 mph on GPS. purring right along.

    I'd say success.

There was sabotage done to this engine.. by the same clown who ripped off the original owner and did NONE of the work he over charged for.

be aware, they are out there.

It makes me furious because I am a mechanic and jerk offs like that give all of us a bad rep. i'll be dealing with him.

Fantastic news, thanks for the follow-up.

And do keep us informed about your proceedings against the crooked mechanic.
