78 blackmax 150 carb swap ???
78 150 on 94 17’ nitro. It has what looks like stock carbs round floats carbs say WH 2-2 on em. I bought this engine and a blown 81 150 which had newer style carbs with red-ably available floats. The newer ones just say WH on em but obviously have bigger Venturi’s I measured .160 bigger on outlet side. I’d like to swap in the newer carbs (which have all new stuff in em). I’m wondering if I can run same jetting that’s in old carb into these new carbs? I’m assuming the bigger venturis will flow more air and I may possibly run lean? Jets in new carbs are way too rich. Old carb mains are 056 and the new carb mains are 080. Thanks guys. Almost forgot I’m running 1000-1500 elevation.

Welcome to the forum! Put on the new carbs and run em as they are. Then read your plugs and go down from there. Your old jets will be way too small. But you can use them as cores for drilling out.
