OMC F1-V8 racing in Minneapolis 1984.
First picture is #1 Cees Van Der Velden in his 1984 Velden boat. (in my opinion way better looking)
#97 Tom Posey is driving the 1983 style Velden boat.
Plenty of spectators in Minneapolis 1984. Check the two bridges

Ok I see that, but no its because I'm IN that picture! Front to the left, and the guy beside me to the left of me in the wife-beater t-shirt was a good friend at the time. Exactly! Even my wife identified me in the pic and my friend as well. But I've never been to Minneapolis! Crazy. Who knows.

More info "behind the scene" before the Minneapolis GP 1984..and you can clearly see Mercury was a trouble maker for the OMC F1-V8 series.
I guess JW Fonda 2 liter World Series and Champboat was not enough for Mercury...they could not let OMC run their own racing series.

#14 Bob Nordskog again. This is from Paris 6 Hours 1972. Powerboat Magazine's Bob is driving his Schulze/Johnson V4 Stinger GP.
Bob had a very unique driving style.

Jimbo McConnell is looking very happy here. My guess is he won the APBA Mod. 50 race in his #191 "Petty Blue" Molinari with Evinrude CC power. Can it be Ric McChesney holding the boat??
Thanks for the picture.

It would be my guess that Mod 50 was dominated by OMC?
