Corn production is harmful in many ways from environmental with herbicide and fertilizer runoff and health issues such as diabetes and obesity from corn syrup. But there is no way there will be a change to growing switch grass because the gigantic corporations that control the agri/business market are not going to allow it.

I just saw a farm show... the new equipment analyzes each individual plant as it passes over and applies "micro" amounts of fertilizer to only the plants that need it.

Not only does it massively reduce the amount of runoff, long-term it saves a fortune in fertilizer cost... and also increases the yield by boosting the lagging plants.

Just like the so-called "climate crisis"... innovation and technology will continue to allow us to live happily ever after and feed more people using less land.

It's the amount ingested and sedentary lifestyle, not the corn, that is the problem with corn syrup. And you should say Lobbyist are the reason they won't switch.

If you look at the steep rise of the use of corn syrup and the rise in diabetes they track exactly. Humans don’t process the syrup the same way as fruit sugar or sugar cane. It just isn’t a good food source. It not good for cows either. You are right about the lobbyists, which is basically money from agribusiness to politicians to not screw up their good thing. Like most things it’s all about the Benjamins.
