Fastest 26 to 28 foot outboard boat single 300 HP motor
I was Wondering who besides Tuff boats makes a fast outboard in the 26 to 28 range with a single 300hp
Don't care about big offshore type water design, what is the top speed in that range, single or dual.
I started a project 20 years ago and look to resurrect it, I installed a 9 inch pad long ago, believe I want
something in the 12 to 14 inch with a higher center, It's presently flat.
The boat started off as a Sleekcraft Ambassador 26 ft IO big block
20 some years ago the transom and stringers were replaced we used epoxy resin
The boat ran mid 70's with 2 2.4 200's on a 30 inch swim platform jack plate stock mini pad, delta?
I flipped her over 20 years, did my bottom work then forgotaboutit,
So I removed the huge swim platform, and plan on using one inch core covered in 1708 to make about a
two foot transom extension motor bracket, deck area.
For such a long boat I would like more lift so I;m going wider and softer with a raised center, flat can give
you slamming effect, I have two 250XS last of high compression and one 300XS
So I was wondering what a good top end number would be for either a 300 xs or twin ?
I like this hull because of the cuddy cabin, a place to hide when the summer thunderstorms come.

Cool project. I think you will have to look to Europe for benchmarking though

This heavier looking 25 footer than your boat, does 50 mph at 5900 rpm with a 300 Merc.

It's seven feet wide, If I like the way she runs, my dream would be make a mold, I own a chop gun / resin gun, which gives you quick build up for mold making, Todd D who owns MADEFI.com has been instructing others on building light weight vacuum infused boats with great success, Todd is quite a optimist, says he will set it up, light and strong,
but first I need a working plug. It has a 18 dgree dead rise at transom, I like Bernco's step up front only Idea.Last edited by CUDA; 11-24-2022 at 05:39 PM.

Another baseline comparison.
This guy got 52 mph at 5500 rpm, with a 16 D x 19 P prop on his Merc 300.

There are not a lot of options to begin with and add a small cabin that is useful for the occasional overnight sleep and you have very few choices. Maybe Progressions 27 if they are still building them?

This is our running plug which has been 101mph with a stock 300x. Boat is going into production at the start of Q1 2023. 26' long 8' beam. Production boat will be much lighter than the plug and should run well into the teens with a single 300R. Checkout our website or Instagram for more details
