    Hooha

Several months ago, I was given the opportunity to work with a disabled vet. He is a representative of Hooah, Healing of our American Heroes. They provide many services the vets really need probably the most of which is fellowship. They all know the trials they have all faced and support one another. Hooah gets these guys together to hunt and fish. They have companies like Scheyles (sp) and Bass Pro sponsor these trips. They bring the guys and gals in and completely outfit them for either the hunting camp or fishing camp. The companies provide everything they need other than the guns for hunting and boats for fishing. That's where we got involved.

The boat they were using was seriously in need of help. So, I posted the project and asked for some help acquiring the needed items. Of course, Scream and Fly stepped up and made things happen. Jacob Avery supplied a drive shaft at no cost then sent it to Chris Carson to cut and spline which he did at no cost. Then I was inundated with pms asking what I needed to finish project. So many great people here that really appreciate what these heroes hove done for us and wanted to help however they could. I thank you all for that.

Last Sunday I was invited to their year end banquet. Didn't really want to go but I wanted to see Jerrod and Mitch again so I did. Fairly large gathering of about 3 to 4 hundred people in a large banquet hall. Several speakers got up gave short speeches. Then they introduced the Gold Star families. I was not aware what a Gold Star family was but learned they had all lost a kid while serving our country. Two different parents got up to speak. It was both enlightening and sad at the same time. Truly incredible people.

Then a bunch of us were asked to stand up and were acknowledged for our support. Couple more speakers then they announced it was time to hand out awards. Eventually they got to us. The members of Scream and Fly were given the Service Award for 2022 for the Hooah organization. While my name is the only one on the plaque it's for all of us. I have never been so proud in my life to be honored by a group such as this. I have racing trophies and pool trophies and this plaque will be mounted above them all. Good job Scream and Fly.

A lot of people have never heard of Scream and Fly before the award announcement. It was funny watching folks turning to their significant other with that's "who the hell is Scream and Fly" look one their face.
