For 2.5 guys, need help with trim
I've pulled the powerhead for rebuild. Now I need to move the boat. Can I connect some of these wires to get the trim motor to work?
I am reluctant to just start making connections.....

The wires from the trim motor come into the cowl under your hand in pic. Its either 2 or 3 wires. Solenoids have 3 relays have 2. Be careful with open fuel hoses.
Anyway you can run motor 2 wire has a blue and a green. Connect to positive and negative. If it moves the wrong way reverse them.
3 wire the black is ground blue is up. green is down. Do not reverse polarity on wire wire pump.
I looked again it seems you must have a remote trim pump, offshore mid. The red blue and green leading forward must go to the pump. .Last edited by Jim Speros; 07-27-2022 at 12:19 PM.

I have an offshore trim. There aren't any more wires under my hand. I see the green and blue on the starboard side.

Put power to trim pump, put power to blue wire, trim go up.
blue = sky motor go up
Green = grass, motor go down.
My trim pump has a dedicated red from power, a dedicated ground. Then green signal wire from switch to solenoid # go down, and blue signal wire from switch for solenoid # go upLast edited by moatorbotin; 07-27-2022 at 02:20 PM.

It all depends how boat is wired. The pump needs to have 12v and ground usually 10 gauge wires to battery. The small harness with 3 unplugged bullet connectors likely lead to pump. If pump has power and ground all that is needed is positive to blue. If nothing happens there is no ground and/or power to pump. If it only clicks there is no power to pump.

The mid size black wire with blue tape on it may be pump ground. There should be but can't see a big black like the big red you have taped that leads to battery. Connect the 2 blacks.
Maybe the large black is the longest laying in back of tray. The mid size black wire is the pump power size. If there is a red match i can't see it needs to go to big red with tape on it in pic.Last edited by Jim Speros; 07-27-2022 at 02:30 PM.

If his pump has power he should be able to just plug the switch back into the cowl and trim up. The green blue trim wires from the switch to his ignition/boat side harness are still plugged in, but that switch won't do anything because the 3 bullets that are disconnected go to his pump. As soon as those are plugged back in his switch at helm or cowl should work.Last edited by moatorbotin; 07-27-2022 at 02:41 PM.

Yes, but small red in that harness usually comes for power thru 10 pin which is unplugged.

Give + from boat battery to the red wire from the switch on the cowl. Switch should work as normal then.

Can’t you just turn the slot head bolt on the side of the mid and lift it manually?

Yes, if it was a 3 ram trim. He has a one ram with remote pump.

I would have just pulled the lower unit off if I had planned on moving the boat . Seems like that would have been easier than screwing up the wires and possible sparking up a fire , just sayin.
