    That 25 Johnson is where it all began. And as the saying goes...."The rest is history." Well done...!!

    @GENE LANHAM

    This is the 1951 edition/model year.

    1951 was the first "modern" 25hp, had full shifting and remote tank. That basic design evolved over the years to the 30, 35, and 40 which stayed in the line up through 1976

    The 40 HP had a second order reverse whirl resonance that caused the flywheel to gyrate by 1/2". If you ever watched one with a strobe, it would scare the hell out of you. As much as it moved, we could run the engine a peak resonance for hours on end and never fail the crank. Another useless peace of info about OMC. We called them the Flying 40 internally.

    @GENE LANHAM

    Now to a very interesting question..
    How did you finish in your first race with the Johnson 25HP powered boat.??
    Looks like your boat # 26 was much smaller than the other ones with same power..

    PS. I took this picture of you in Tavares, Florida 2016

    Bill & Guido’s Excellent Adventure

    Before heading to Macon Val de Saone in France to join Team Abu Dhabi for the opening round of the 2022 UIM F1H2O World Championship Guido Cappellini took time out to catch up with an old friend on Lake Como.

    My thrill adventures on the water as a youth, started with a 20 HP motor (I will not mention the brand).

    And I still can go back in memories, and recall those past fond feelings of freedom & speed on the water.
