[QUOTE=lars strom;3334862]....in the mail today.. 50+ pictures from the 1984 F1-V8 race in Minneapolis thanks to John Hoppe.
His brother Paul took the pictures and now I have them all. Coming soon.
Yes..Seebold was racing with his #7 Bud Light/Merc

    Thank you John Hoppe

Interesting mix.......#45 Bob Hering / O Gradys potato chips Hering hull. #94 Steve DeSousa EZ Loader trailers Seebold hull. As this "mix" continued it was rumored that the fuel paid for by OMC in the series was adjusted for a lower octane rating. The V8s could run on it just fine but the fuel injected Merc 2 liter champ motors would burn pistons. Kinda forced the Merc guys to bring their own fuel supplies.

Well..stick to facts now please.."Nine Mercury 2.4 litre V6 powered drivers and one Johnson V6 powered driver had joined the fray in the hope of earning a slice of the $50,000 prize money"

A few weeks later 1984 Merc used the 3.9 liter V6 and the twin powered V6 (wizard)..but for now we stay in Minneapolis

    Minneapolis 1984

Looking at all the pictures from Minneapolis F1-V8 race 1984 and also looking/reading the full Powerboat & Waterskiing report from both Minneapolis & Pittsburgh with the headline..

"The Bud Light Formula One Grand Prix Series of six American events was already well under way, when Europeans joined their American competitors in Minneapolis for the second year running"
..the report is coming later and you can clearly read a lot interesting "engine stuff"
This race was the first one after Stockholm GP and OMC asked me to please send your #8 boat with us to the two US races.
I told them No thanks..I needed a break from racing for many reasons.

First picture is #1 Cees Van Der Velden in his 1984 Velden boat. (in my opinion way better looking)
#97 Tom Posey is driving the 1983 style Velden boat.
    Thanks Paul Hoppe

Well..thanks for asking..I always told myself when asked to drive a race boat (old or new)..Lars..be smart..you have already used up all your luck walking away from crashes..so the answer is no.
Mark Rotharmel still have some luck left so he drove the 754 a few times

One more fact Mr @WaterZebra ..

This is from Powerboat Magazine after the Sacramento F1-V8 race 1984..
As you can clearly see Seebold and the Merc drivers used the 142 Cubic inch powerhead..(2.4 liter)
So I am sticking with my fact and I think you should say..I am sorry..

#10 Tom Percival driving his Hodges in Stockholm GP 1984.
Tom also skipped the two US races after Stockholm as I did..so this comment today by his daughter is very sad..but just the way it was..

    Katie Percival
Probably one of the last photos of him racing … thank you for sharing

The next European race after Minneapolis & Pittsburgh was Liege, Belgium and that's when we sadly lost Tom in his accident with Fabrizio Bocca.

Not many people know this but at the Paris F1-V8 race in June 1984 Tom Percival and I was racing for the same sponsor.. “International Travel Card”.
We did lots of promotions together for “International Travel Card” and I got to know Tom pretty good.

I don't have a good picture of my #8 boat in Paris 1984 but here is one from a video. (below)
