Trailer Bunk Carpet; how many OZ?
Looking at re-carpeting my trailer bunks and side platform and was wondering how may ounce marine grade carpet to use. Looking for something that's workable and good for tight corners and bends without wrinkles but still protective.

Overton’s carries trailer bunk carpet that is good to work with and stands up quite well.
I did 3 trailer with it 4 or 5 years ago and it’s held up very well.

I covered the carpet on my bunks with the grooved slick grey plastic. In Florida it is easy to get sand in the carpet and with a really light boat that gets over a thousand miles a year on the trailer it wears out the gel coat. I keep mine tied down tight front and rear but there is still sanding of the gel coat.

Any other thoughts input?
I am looking to replace the 12" x 7' plywood and the carpet covering on the side access steps/ platforms that run alongside of the trailer. There seems to be some huge price variances from what I can uncover for wat looks to be the same stuff.

I’ve used shag, berber, artificial turf lol. All worked fine. Nowadays I’m using genuine marine carpet and most of it is thin crap so I run two layers over the load surface only. Meaning one flat piece and then one wrapped piece over the whole bunk. CE Smith seems to make reasonably thick marine carpet and that’s what I’m using on my current trailer
resto.
im also through bolting with stainless carriage bolts inset into the bunk and filled with thickened resin and capped with a small piece of csm to keep the water out of the wood. Slapping some paint over the bunk as well trying to keep these dry for as long as possible. That’s the only advantage to marine carpet really is it doesn’t retain water for long. The artificial turf carpet I used which was blue, lasted over 25 years on untreated lumber. Best longest lasting bunks I ever had. Never scratched the gel eitherHydrostream dreamin

Home Depot Indoor-Outdoor. They will cut it to width in 12' length. Works great.
