1750 bullet set up
Hi guys, I have recently purchased another 1750 bullet kledgecell nz built,. It is running a 225 promax 20" and 4 hole cle with 26 trophy.
Question on setback and jacking plates...
My set up is spaced back 2" but no jack plate and prop shaft is about 70mm below pad.
Boat is a bloody animal but just wondering if I need to change to a jackplate or set back further as everyone mentions blow out... Now I've had it 85mph at about 6200rpm, it cruises at 75mph at around 5700rpm
I've had no blow out as such but ran out of water (lake came to an end) at 85 so had to lift the boot which created a nice wee chime walk (getting used to left foot again) any tips and tricks for coming off the gas and thoughts if I actually need a jack plate would be helpful
Cheers

You can trim down a little before coming off throttle, also slowly back out vs chopping the throttle.
Your boat must be light. I have run a 26p small hub trophy on my bullet bass boat and it only runs about 70 mph flush with the bottom of the boat, turning about the same rpm.
Usually they are easier to drive with engine a inch or two above the bottom of the boat, but every boat is different.
If your running rough water your probably good.
If your looking for top speed jack it up and try some other props in the 28 to 30 pitch range.
As for setback idk?

Cheers mate yea is a lightweight kledgecell foam core 1750 I'll throw the 28et on it for a bit of fun goes really well with the promax. Mid 80 on 1st run since purchasing. As for Jack plate I'll race this season as is then probably through one on. Thinking of a worked 150 for next season so will probably sell 225 when it comes off. I had a cyclone rx1950 between bullets so the left foot throttle is the thing I need seat time with unless I move it further right into foot rest.

Yeah left foot throttle would have me all messed up.
What kind off racing are you doing, timed distance or around bouys? If you have to turn , jacking the motor a bunch, isn't a good idea, they tend to spin out.

Welcome to scream and fly! X10 on what Onpad about lifting very slowly and trimming down two or three bumps before you do. Just chopping the throttle and getting out of the gas is a very good way to get wet when that thing hooks to the left at 90°. I never got wet with mine but had to change my shorts a couple of times until I figured that out.
1990 Shadow bass boat w/ 2.4 200 Merc. Totally resto'd boat and love it!

Hey mate in new Zealand we have a boat marathon commission who run events all over.. the class I race in with the 225 is b class which we run around the 80 kilometer Mark big circuits and river sprints etc really good fun. I'll probably leave height where it sits as it runs like a bullet should up on the pad. Basically I was just picking brains on the whole set back thing. My last 1750 had a 200 xri black max but in that class we had height restrictions so never had an issue going fast enough for blow out... I think I'll run it the way it is for a couple of rounds and see how it goes. Find new Zealand boat marathon commission on Facebook ull see pictures of last season

Sounds like fun. I'll check it out.
I don't know if your cle has a torque tamer on the skeg, but that will help with blowout.

Why not put the pro max powerhead on a 15inch mid
Maybe look for a sportmaster!?
There is a 1.62 gear ratio for them
You could keep the rpms low turning a lower pitch proppelor faster especially on a light boat this could be beneficial
On my british phantom 21 i had the propshaft 1 inch below the bottom

The American in me wants to tell you to put 12" to 14" of setback on that bad boy, since it has none built into the hull. Run prop shaft above pad with a 28p 4 blade prop.
I've had good luck with a signature 14 1/2"×28p 4 blade cleaver, runs 77mph with a 150 on my ltv. I run a signature 14 1/2×28p 4 blade et type prop on my bullet bass boat.
All just speculation but I would think you could get your boat to gain about 10mph with a setup like that.
Sounds like there's been alot of people run cle cases over the 100mph mark. Anything faster than your going now requires some mods to case, like torque tab, blowout ring, nosecone, skeg mods, just a torque tab will make a big difference.
Be safe, and good luck this year!!

Most guys in Aus running a 1650-1750 will use a 4-6” jacking plate with a TE cleaver level or just above the pad. Should be able to get it into the 90s with that motor
