My sisters daughter was the head of a larger insurance office making good money and gave It up to fly Helicopters and race bikes

She dated married and divorced a helicopter pilot that got her into it, getting hours for certification was a issue because they are more expensive to rent, In the beginning they would deliver new machines take others back for major service any job to build hours.

She said their is nothing like flying one, she was a wild child at 12...

Kelly's Island and Put-in Bay are both fun (very close in proximity). We used to frequent them when we would boat the out of Lk. St. Clair and have hit them boat during Skaterfest events.

That’s our summer, weekend, boating destination.

Been going there all my life and never seen her there!

Is a cool place to fly in/out of as are all of the Lake Erie Islands.

Ive got some good videos of flying through fog looking for the landing strip (none of them are airports) on Pelee Island.
Had to abort and return to home port after first attempt.
    We couldn’t find it!
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

There was an earlier video of a high school kid delivering pizzas to the island via private plane at begging of lock down.

    Gorgeous area to fly through.

I love Beechcraft! From the Bonanza and up, they are the Cadillac of the sky IMO.

I used to work at a Beech dealership.... wrenched on the Barons and King Airs too. Not sure about the V tail, (and that is an OLD one) but a new Bonanza, the VNE is 205 knots or 236mph. That is not cruise. I flew in a V tail with a turbo that came through the shop, and it would not exceed VNE in level fight. The turbo prop will though.

Funny how you can find a used Bonanza for a decent price.... Even a Baron.... You have to maintain them though. And if it has not been maintained and ADs current, they can become a nightmare. I know where there was a Baron (the big brother to the Bonanza, essentially a twin version) that was literally melting into the ramp. Flat tires, paint pealing, all the windows were crazed and needed replacement. Someone bought it and didn't have a clue of the up keep.

Oh, and the control surfaces on the V tail are called "rudder-vators" as they serve both functions. It was also nicked named the "Forked Tailed (doctor or lawyer) Killer", because if you became disoriented and overspeed the airframe... popped out of the clouds looking at the ground, pull to hard on the yoke, the tail would break off. There was also an oscillation in overspeed that would cause the V tail to fail. That was corrected with an AD modification.

If the V Tail is more apt to break off, then the conventional T Tail, then apparently there is more aerodynamic drag-pressure on the V Tail. Which, then makes me wonder why the V.
Is it lighter than the T,and a manufacture opts for the weight savings.

Throw drag into the equation. Only two stabilizers vs three. That is dropping drag by at least 33% and weight. Plus the control feathers were magnesium which was a bit lighter. At least on the ones I worked on were.

And then throw overspeed in there... The V started oscillating and would fail at high speed. There later was an AD (Airworthiness Directive) and a fixture was added to the leading edges of the stabilizers.

The conventional tail has a spar across the horizontal stab which is much more robust than the V.

And then there is the yaw affect. The conventional tail is stable in turbulence having a vertical stabilizer... But the V tail tends to lift up and down in turbulence, creating a strange sensation. Didn't bother me, but some people it makes them airsick.

And airsickness... It almost got me when I was wrung out in a Christian Eagle, but after I became acclimated, it was time to rock and roll. I know what 5Gs feels like!

Plus how could I get sick when going for a ride in this?

    Or this?
