I believe it’s Sea-Star but I will have to get the model number. I believe it’s 2.4. There are two different types one if you have dual opposed and there’s one that’s designed for single ram operation.

Does it do more turns one way than the other? I understand that is the issue with an unbalanced system.

It’s possible, I never really paid that much attention it does all the turning I need. I will check it out in the next couple days and let you know.

The 2.4 1000 psi is not a balanced helm. The Pro 1500 psi is. That is where people get in trouble trying to use the side ram.

If I remember correctly it turns about equal both ways because I fabricated a custom wing plate and did some mathematical calculations. I’ve been running the boat the same way for 20 years it’s a light weight Mirage, sometimes with nitrous and the steering has never failed. Galen Burdon help me set the system up.

The helm is not the part that would be unbalanced, the cylinder is. With the rod coming out only one side of the cylinder it’s unbalanced. Less fluid volume on the side with the rod coming out.

Thanks. I just remember it as the 1500 psi helms bind up with that unbalanced ram and the 2.4 1000 psi doesn't. Seems to be the general consensus.

I don’t know if my steering system is supposed to work, so far it’s been working, because no one said its not supposed to work. Don’t say it too loud or it might hear you and decide to fail and throw me out.

Hey Guys. Thanks for all the input but I'm really only interested in a front mount system. I guess there's NOT alot of Hydrodrive users out there, even though they are half the price of a Seastar. Has anyone had a look at the MF350w online? If so, what do you think? Thanks Ken
