I found a floater
I took the dogs for a boat ride the other day and found this floating on the lake. No visual signs of trauma no bullet holes I guess he failed the swimming class

Deer are actually decent swimmers. Not uncommon for them to go from island to island or shore to shore but they generally have good bearings & go from point a to b with good accuracy. Boaters likely saw him & "went for a look" & got the animal off course, panicked & adrenaline pumping where he just kept swimming until he died. I have actually heard of fisherman purposely drowning them for their antlers too but evidently not the case here. RR

I found one in my yard (5 acres) recently. Broken neck. Must have hit my fence in the dark. This one has his head pretty far back too...

At least it wasn't bloated yet....I occasionally find bloated floaters on the lake here and pray that they don't "pop" while I'm around

Damn!!! Food for the turtles and fish I guess.
I still have deer meat in my freezer from last year. Time to make a few batches of deer chili! One part deer patty sausage and two deer burger. Plus everything else. It will make you sweat!
I haven't bought nor eaten any beef in a long time!
I just got in a package with some nice onions and another with garlic!

I just re-read the thread title and realized that this thread could have gone in a completely different smelly direction.

Hitting a "floater" at speed sucks! But a floater taking out a parked boat?
