Looks like a sport e challenge boat my dad made for OMC that they raced at Miami Marine Stadium.

The triple flip at Miami Marine Stadium in August 1975 was NOT the big story..
The big story was Jimbo McConnell’s #191 Scotti-Craft with an Evinrude V6 Super Strangler “looper”


This was the first ever 2 liter OMC V-6 pure racing looper power-head. This incredible new powerful engine was 3/4 of a mile ahead of the competition in the race and won both the APBA Mod -120 & Mod – U National title.
After the Miami race the same engine was modified for alky and shipped to Holland and Cees Van Der Velden installed the new racing outboard on his brand new #1 Velden/Marlboro. A new mid section/gear-case and a Johnson V-6 Stinger GP engine cover was used.
Two weeks after the Miami race Cees Van Der Velden did a fantastic job in Cardiff, UK and won the UIM ON class 2 liter world title.
One of many behind this extremely fast OMC 2 liter looper was Fred Hauenstein.

The OMC 2 liter looper V6 block from 1975. Used by Jimbo McConnell in Miami 1975 and by Cees Van Der Velden two weeks later in Cardiff, UK.

How many guys does it take to pickup a F1 Tunnel Boat?

HaaHaa..I can see your concern..but if I remember correct..Cees Van Der Velden damaged his new boat above in the first heat and was close to sink.. Pretty sure all does people was helping out to get the first boat built by Velden out of the water without more damage. The race organization gave Cees the permission to bring the boat out of the pit so Chris Hodges could repair the boat overnight.
It was a miracle Cees ended up as the UIM ON class World Champ Sunday in Cardiff.
I was one of many lucky fans at the race watching this incredible racing weekend.

Jimbo brought this boat to Canada a few times back in 1977.
If I remember correctly a few times he came here with a 'stacked' trailer with the MOD 50 boat up top and a MOD U boat below.

Bob Thompson had a stacked trailer.
We did buy the stacked trailer from Bob, but never used it.
