This motor has been giving me fits all year. Ran perfect yesterday, today no spark to any cylinders. I have tried a different timer base, different stator, brand new power pack. Any ideas??

Have you unhooked the kill wire at the pack to see if you have a short in the kill wire. Just remember ign key will no turn off motor if you start it with kill wire disconnected. Have you checked the shift interrupter?

Got it running today. All I did was loosen off the power pack, and shift it out of the way. Put it back on, snugged it down, and lost spark again. Did it again, now it's running???

OEM packs or cdi stuff... I have had mixed results with cdi, i hit ebay and find NOS, in the box, no bolt marks on the mount holes, returnable ect... and have great luck,I just bought 2 NOS 2 cyl packs in the box. Sounds like connector issues.. make sure no pins are pushed back.

    Bingo!

Especially when it changes when moved.

Spent days going through that on one of my twins.
Switch complete ignitions and still had a erratic spark.

Gave up and decided the only thing it could be is the motors wiring harness.
Ordered one and as I was pulling off the old one one of the pins in an amphonel connector pulled out of the connector when I unplugged it from its mate.

    Repaired that and fixed it.

Most challenging part of troubleshooting to me is when everything passes your tests and it still does not run.

That means we missed something :-)

I have people asking for help all of the time and when I run through the rudimentary test their response is always I know it’s not that I checked it.

I politely say good luck and hang up.

I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.
