    2.0 2.5 Blocks

Is the half of the block circled the same on the 92-96 2.0 135/150 and 2.5 200? According to the part numbers the crank is the same so is that part of the block the same too?

So I guess even if they are the same you cant mix match

    Cylinder Block and Crankcase Cover
    IMPORTANT: Crankcase cover and cylinder
block are a matched, line-bored assembly and
never should be mismatched by using a different
    crankcase cover or cylinder block.

as long as they are same generation blocks they will interchange.. ie: 76 ta '82, 83 ta 90, 91 up... although tha first and second gen ('76 ta 90) stuff will all interchange.. sometimes best ta remove tha dowel pins to make 'em work.. mis-matched block halves are NOT recommended (but done anyway for myself!) for any kinda "hot rod"....... jmo

2.4 to 2.5 will not interchange as the center main crank bearings are different OD's. I believe 2.0's are the same as a 2.4 as well.

2.4s are different. 2.0 and 2.5 cranks and fronts are interchangeable.

I might have said that wrong. First off, most of my knowledge if from trial and error. I have used a 2.0 crank in a 2.5. I have never tried a 2.5 crank in a 2.0 because I don't mess with 2.0 motors. I do know 2.4 cranks don't last long in a 2.5 due to shoulders on journals.

I've been thinking about crank swappin lately and after seein this thread I went and did a site search for it. I found a old thread that laid it out...and guess who explained it the best?
Ya, anyone wanting to know what fits and doesn't go check this one out. https://www.screamandfly.com/archive.../t-304574.html

Ya'll puttin' to much emphasis on what it came out of.....

shouldered center main will run in anything 2.0, 2.4, 2.5 (small/large OD plastic bearing)

non shouldered center main "pre fat block only" 2.0, 2,4 (metal caged, lipped race)

As far as front halves go...theres three things that changed: the center main bearing dia., the bolt pattern, and the upper bearing.

If the 92-96 2.0 is a sleeved 2.5 then the fronts and cranks will swap with the 2.5
