Aussie built boat, huge waves and the front snapped off, went clear over the boat, missed the crew.

...bum...lots of famous offshore raceboats of yesteryear were bought & shipped & raced in a second life, in ozzie land. this particular wellknown 40' cigarette raceboat was called slingshot. they also usually kept the original american name & paint job down the side of the boats that they imported there. slingshot was a beauty & a runner, both here & there, when campaigned...that is...until it caught fire...

...don't know. i do think i remember something about the "hull" mold being 44 feet long. the decks were always lengthened(or shortened) to whatever hull length boat they were building. this was commonly done by all the offshore builders. Originally Posted by powerabout
