Yeah, I know that to be true! Out where I am if you know the local merc racing dealer then you can get some pretty nice stuff. Not to mention warranty claims...if you don't have your rep contact you probably won't get a merc racing warranty.

Yeah I've seen some weird stuff and its only gettin weirder. I have an unpainted 2.4 that isn't stamped anywhere with a serial, numbers or anything.
I wonder why they changed around the 260s and if anyone on here was involved in their development.8' Yellow Jacket - 25 hp Mariner

...an unpainted unstamped 2.4 powerhead was simply a replacement fully warrantied powerhead that was never stamped properly by the dealer that was doing the work. it could have been a warranty replacement powerhead or just bought for the customer that needed/wanted one as a service part. the dealer dropped the ball by not transfering the serial number stampings if it was a warranty replacement. this was somewhat common neglect by some dealers. nothing weird/suspicious/experimental/rare about the powerhead.

The 260 PP Block was the offshore version with no internal mods standard porting and Chest the ECU was also different in that it had a rev limit of 8200 and a 11350 a32 or A36 ECU 39 psi fuel curve. The 260 LL Block was the Drag version with raised porting and a cut out chest the ECU had a 11500 rev limit and came with either a 39 psi 11350 A48 Chip or A63 Chip 56 psi fuel curve. Neither was anything like the S3000 SS Block in porting or chest configuration. The S3000 SS Block was the Horned F1 version that was left hand rotation and had a rev limit of 9250 and either a 11350 A33 39 psi chip or A47, A52 or A61 56 psi fuel curve. But the 300 Drag was a S3000 SS block in Right hand rotation and a Blue SVS from the factory with a 11500 rev limit and the 849849 A6 ECU with 56 psi fuel curve. But all parts would interchange Crank, Rods, Pistons Heads etc. If you ordered a 260 Offshore you could get it with several mid/lower configurations. The S3000 came with a 12" Mid and a speedmaster lower. The 300 Drag came with a 12 or 15" Mid and a sportmaster lower. But in all Honesty you could order any of the Above mentioned in just about any configuration you wanted if you had the $$$$$$$!!
And yes what confuses people is when asked what motor? Most racers will respond 300 Drag. But in reality they mean its been cut to (or as close) as possible to a 300 Drag SS when its actually a 260 PP or 260 LL Drag Block.. Because the as casted S3000/300 Drag SS Chest was cast totally different from any 260 whether a PP offshore or LL Drag block. The S3000/300 SS block and the 280 QQ block had identical chests but the transfer ports were different.Bud Conner "Heathen" "Defending Our Constitution"
