Went to the Unlimited Hydro races every year as a kid. Pay n Pack, Atlas, Miss Bud and Miss Madison. We used to ride dirt bikes where Joe Robbie Stadium sits. Unless we were riding, best I can remember, where Pines Blvd dead ended going west.
Lived off Taft Street in Pembroke Pines, 105th Avenue. I left there when I was 13, 1983. Remember having nightmares about the car just driving off into the water going out to the Stadium. Not sure what the road is called.
Bro went to Cooper City HS. I can't remember the name of the middle school I was in.
Looking at a map, we were maybe 5 miles from the beach. Seemed like an all day trip back then.
Chaz, no idea how you recalled and typed all that, I didn't even finish reading it.
My Dad ran a golf cart parts distributor called Nivel, owned by Leo Levin. Nivel is Levin spelled backwards. Leo owned the Hatteras (think that's what it was) that was speared through the bow by an offshore race boat. I remember the pic on his office wall. Remember seeing a lot of big hot rod boats across the street from Nivel in various shops. Dad was taken out by a guy whom he had fired, and the family moved back to Illinois, where we were from.Last edited by DangerNewb; 12-31-2020 at 05:57 AM. Reason: add info

He served about 7 years. Got it knocked down to involuntary manslaughter. His name was William "Bill" Midday. Sure he's dead now as he was older than my dad. I believe his sister had some $$ and hired Richard "Racehorse" Haynes to defend him. Look him up. He got folks out of murder charges that should have fried. Managed to get his confession dismissed and then it's "he said, she said" with only one talker. Dumped Dad under a manhole cover behind the building and wasn't found for a couple months.
Have fun along the way and enjoy the process, you never know what life has in store.Last edited by DangerNewb; 12-30-2020 at 03:22 PM.

Chaz--
Never saw that original post--your list was amazing, brought back many memories. How about--
Ed "Mark-em-Down" Lane
Little Old Burkey wearing many suit jackets.
The National Anthem and the Our Father on Channel 4 when it signed on at 7:00 AM before Popeye Playhouse.
Manolo Reyes.
And Fuji--thanks for the Marine Stadium photos--ran a few races there...Per Rock:
"Once I bought my first Hydrostream boating changed forever for me."
Per my hero Instigator:
"I try not to let common sense interfere w/my boat buying decisions."
