I bought 4 tunes for my 300r and nows its 500hp, uses 50gph and the oil is getting thinner but it is filling up by itself.
I might be able to sell it and make money from this engine?

Power ole boy .. both hands are in the air. But do you mind if I keep an American flag in my bamboo jail cell. I get it now .. Bobumba bailed out GM so he could sell off the prints to an American icon.

4 banger + electric .. next will be the 300x with a wooham rat running in a high ratio rotary cage .. After that, the ACME 360 , they already own the series. Just waitin on Joemalla Harris to sign over the rights to the motor ...

A lot slower...curious as to what generation of boat that is. A place like Bay City it is going to be interesting after 10-12 laps to see drivers try to stick them into the corners hard. The sound is there thankfully...not like the formula 60 which is like watching a bunch of california faggots race their prious's around a gay bar.

bay city will likely never be a concern for a boat with that engine on it... at least not for the next decade.

the video posted of Torrente testing his boat with the new engine on it was interesting to me, the boat looked very unhappy. even moving in a straight line it seemed twitchy. bad video maybe, crappy water maybe, a characteristic of the new engine maybe, who knows. it looked like the old boat with the new engine but I have read that they are going to try it on the old one and a new slightly modified (read as longer?) version so I have faith that they will get it figured out.

the video linked above, the boat at least looks settled for the most part, perhaps a hair squirrely on corner exit but manageable. that could be the four stroke torque lifting the boat? or maybe just that particular driver's style? hard to tell really...

I'm inclined to agree with you Bobby. I could see the torque of the four stroke coming in really quick out of the corner and throwing the boat up and out harder than a comparable two stroke boat.

Me 2 Matt. But I can see the driver saying to himself when he realizes the amount of torque at his finger tips "I`m gonna go with it".

...sponsons need to be a bit larger & beam of boat a bit wider...boat length to be determined... prioritize beam.

Shaun had the boat "which is not an ideal piece" running within one second of his best ever qualifying lap time on the simulated course layout that they used for reference. That motor now has lots of hours on it as well (more then 50 times the hours of anything he would normally race). He said, "get it on my boat, let us get it set up, and watch out".

    Hi,

I had 2 x 2.5 EFI's with PCU's on my Phantom 25 for 6 years. On cruise the engines consumed 3 litres of oil per hour. Plus 100 litres of fuel. In Norway you paid back in 2010 approx NOK 750 in oil + NOK 1,400 for fuel per hour. Thats NOK 2,150 per hour eq to approx USD 270. I afforded approx 50 hours per season. I addition I paid approx NOK 100,000 eq USD 12,500 in service per year. In all USD 26,000 per year for 50 hours.....

With my 400R I run faster (89 mph vs 87 mph) and price per hour in 50 mph cruise is NOK 540 eq USD 63 for oil and fuel. Service is approx USD 800. In all USD 3,950 for 50 hours. And it runs all the time. I miss the insane sound and acceleration, but I love the possibilty to use it without worry about stalling up somewhere.

This summer I managed to squeeze out 180 hours in the boat. It had been impossible with the two 2.5 EFI SS engines.

Next summer its 450R and the accelleration will back on track

    Cheeeers, Toffen

Pretty sure 8000 hours worth of fuel makes 80 oil changes look like a flash in the pan. My math shows about $1/hr oil costs. Even if you were conservatively burning 25 gallons/hour of 32:1 premix in your old school 2-stroke, that’s (8000 hrs x 25 gallons/hr)= 200,000 gallons of fuel. 200,000 gallons/32 nets 6250 gallons of 2-stroke oil. That you put out through the prop, some burned, some not.

In comparison, my 2007 Denali just turned 285,000 miles and has 7030 hours and counting. I put 6 qts of 10W-30 Mobil1 and an AC filter on it every 5000 mile oil change. It’s typically ~$35 each change, and the local equipment rental place takes my 20 gallon drum about every 10 months and empties it into their oil tank for their furnace which heats the shop. (I keep a family of 5 on the road, so there’s plenty of oil changes)

At the end of the day, the fuel savings should offset everything quite nicely. Pretty sure there’s not too many 2-strokes with original sealed engine at 8000 hours either.

I know the 400R on my boat averages 3.5 mpg every trip out, and gets 3@85. 50 hours last year and only 10 this year. So an oil change per year is fine with me. (100 hours is recommended, I do 50 because oil is cheap compared to an engine) Plugs and belt every 5 years even better. As much as I dislike no wakes, I NEVER worry about fouling plugs or loading up.

I miss the sounds and smells of my old carby 2.4L, but enjoy using my boat with great peace of mind.

    Hi Noli,

I look forward to start up with it in the spring.

There are some changes to be done. Fuel lines, fuel tank, upgraded steering, new jackplate, etc.

Its an expensive engine, but we only live once. Its my 60th birthday present for myself. Ha ha.

I run 88-89 mph with my 400R using a Max5 25 prop. I presume I need to go to a Max5 27 prop with the new set up. I will also check out Hill 5 bl cleaver. However, it only has 15 degree of rake, and I am uncertain if thats to low for my ol style V bottom. Estimated speed 95 mph +.

Video running 88 mph with the 400R https://www.facebook.com/646865205/v...5667590180206/

    Cheeers, Toffen
