So, an eleven mph gain by adding only 50hp? Sounds like a terrible trade off.

    congrats sir. Well done.

According to Johnny, it works just fine. I'm hopefully going to drive it tomorrow when I go to pick it up.

Congrats, thats a great upgrade. Wait until you feel the torque compared to your old motor. Might want to try bigger diameter props and jack her up. Best of luck and keep us updated.

Very impressive low 90s is definitely in the cards. Interested to see what a 300 would do on this hull. Probably break 100 easy

How did he like the blaster? I found that the mid-range wasn't close to the bravo I labbed prop that Brett did for me

Looks good, you definitely can put more speed into your boat but the problem is hering props are so damn Expensive!

Just got home from Performance Marine which is about a 4 1/2 hour drive from where I live. Johnny and I took the boat out for a quick spin when I picked it up. It wasn't very warm and there were 1-2's with whitecaps out on the lake, so we didn't go crazy. With the two of us on board, tabs about level with the bottom and a bit over a half tank of fuel, Johnny wound her (quickly) up to 85 with no problem. The acceleration is mighty impressive. We then swapped seats and I cranked her up to about 80 without even trying hard, but it was getting cold, so we went in without me really laying into it. I'm very happy!

As for the comments that I need more diameter and need to raise the motor up more, I don't think so. The boat hardly needed any positive trim to loosen up, then fly straight and level. (Before one needed to trim it to the sky to get any big numbers.) As for the engine height, we have it so I can just baby it up on plane, so more height is a no go. Oh, and prop slip works out to 10%. Are there a few more miles per hour in there with some more setup? Probably, but I'm not in search of a one trick pony that is set up only for top end. Besides, any serious playing with it will have to wait till next spring. It's going into storage tomorrow morning.

I placed the boat in storage for the winter today. I know, it sucks, but it's just too damn cold to take it out on Lake Ontario. Before I took it away, I took some pics that I wanted to share. Enjoy!

BTW, Remember that the boat you are looking at is almost 30 years old!

I found some really nice trailering blocks for both the motor and the steering at a place called D26 Fishing.

Engine looks a tad larger than the old one. Really nice upgrade. Can't wait to see it in person.
