As usual, you made me laugh. (I needed that today.) The marina I work for uses heavy duty thermoformed pontoon stands that are 18" square with a rounded upper surface that perfectly matches the bottom of the logs. You place one (on each side) right at the stern of the log where it's strongest and another on each side up front where the forward bulkhead is in the log. (Again, the strongest point.) This distributes the load and prevents deforming the bottom of the logs. Lord knows one doesn't want any hook in a log to scrub off speed!

...the engines were a pair of highly cosmetically & mechanically modified Mercury 1500 inline sixes, altered to looked like a pair of much older white Mercury 800's. short shaft newer inline gearcases, the newer taller cowling wraps relabeled & to look like the older shorter cowling wraps, newer top covers trimmed to look like the older 800's trim, 70's power trim, paint,...the list goes on... boat was homemade...ran in the sixty's...

Yep. Plus it has a nice stepped-bottom effect, which makes them toons faster than coons...

saw this at the Mount Dora Antique Boat show a few years ago. Don’t remember all of the details other than being built from scratch. The motors were newer than they appear and included trim n tilt.
