Amber believes he passed away from a heart attack in his sleep. Scott had a heart attack 10 years ago, so he had nitro pills with him. She said he did not complain about not feeling good, but his nitro pills were depleted. Scott was only 56 years old. I loved this guy. He would call out of no where, my wife would answer the phone and he would just say "is Todd there, this is Scott, he knows who I am." It use to make her crazy as she talks to a lot of people. He always made me feel good asking about pricing a job or giving me his thoughts on how he was going to fix something.
I posted this on my FB:
The boating community has lost another great one. Scott Steffe was a true die hard boater and boat repair guru. I was sadden to just find out about his passing. Most of us will remember for his crazy little red hydro he built from scratch. I just talked to his daughter. As she relays more to me, I will post it. Scott was only 56 years old. She is going to get a gofundme page to help with expenses started. I will post it when it is up. GOD SPEED Scott Steffe

When he was fighting with “Ole Red” he knew I used to race 3 point hydros and called me to ask about air traps.
Told him what I knew, what I thought, and what I’d do.
Dont think he listened to any of it.
Sounds like me
Watched him do the same w/hid V-8 project.
Marched to the beat of his own drums.
Gotta love that.
At 56, so sad.
Thr guy was a worker too.
RIP my friend.I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Scott was a great guy and a friend. We had lots of long conversations about boat design and about Ole Red. Not fair to be leaving us at such a young age.
