The El Camino in this picture is a 67 or earlier and the motor appears to be a 4 cylinder with stacks. At that time Mercury only made 2 4 cyl motors. that would make this motor either a 500 or a 650. The offshore boat in the background could further date this picture. Was this the only time they tested this "boat"?

This boat would seem to solve the wetted area issue at the expense of maintaining some proximity to the water. I recall a few tunnel boat designs with the same problem.

CONTROL??
For years---the control surface on the Switzer WING has been called so many names-even by the Brothers----
FLAP? AILERON? STABILIZER? FLAPERON?
I have always called the CONTROL surface an ELEVATOR---- controllable from the cockpit--
I'm sure MIKE BUTLER would agree this looks like the tail of a V Bonanza--
Angle of attack controlled from the cockpit--trim tabs adjusted on the ground--
The driver becomes an AVIATOR----
