.106 pullover tube question.
So I know what they do, but can you install them on a set of carbs that do not have them without rejetting?

Have you done any mods?
Where the hell did you find them!

Was more a question in general. Only mods on the motor that I know of are CCMS reeds.

Drill and tap the carb and use main jets.
Pullovers lower the air pressure in the mail well so the fuel level goes higher richening the mix

But can you add them without changing the jets?

Spot on.
Per Al Stoker, they are similar to 1/2 main jet size but more importantly, considering the big loopers known mid range lean condition, they get the mains to start flowing a couple hundred R’s earlier than w/o.
On all my hot rods I do as powerabout suggested and tap that hole to 1/4 x20 threads and run old drilled out main jets for pullovers.
For as much as everyone hates these carbs, you can’t send them to me
Once you understand your working w/plastic instead of alum and learn how to tune them, they ain’t bad cards.

I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

My motor isn't a hot rod, but I noticed some carbs have them, some don't I have a set that I'll try out and see what happens.

I couldn't even find them let alone know someone with them...sad part is how many people have them don't even know what they are..and throw away etc..
Last summer had two different people that were scraping 2.7s with the treasured 331490 heads and some other stuff luckily got to them before..
And had another guy thought he was a scamming me by trying to pass off a different motor then the one he had listed had locked up steering but another 2.7 powerhead was fine but steering was ****..$50 was going to tell him and pay more till he opened his mouth and started lying ..
Always looking for parts..

89 225 looper. I put the 490 heads on with the later model intake and air box. Plugged the relief holes and jetted accordingly. No mods to the rotation assembly. I still have it on a stand complete and the lower is coned and the carrier is pinned. I went with a 2.5 merc for the weight loss on my 20 foot Bullet. She was getting a little tired with a little too much leakdown. The motor was on my boat when I bought it, so I ran it until I got the Mercury.
