Do we know what happened?
Mechanical failure?
Appears he hit that tree @ WFO!
You would think even a hook (broken steering, threw a blade, motor seizure etc) stuck throttle would have sent him in sideways and/or rolled the boat at that speed.
Only good is it had to have happened fast.
I went on line last night and read everything I could find.
Prayers sent to all effected.
And a reminder to us of what we do.....Last edited by Instigator; 12-31-2019 at 09:10 AM.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

According to Jason Wolf, he caught an unsuspected gust a wind at 120+. The nose lifted and when it came down the boat hooked hard, hit the bank into a tree. John was thrown from the boat, hit another tree and landed in the water. Jason pulled him ashore but there was nothing that could be done. John was wearing his lifeline jacket but his injury were massive.

I was at the ODBA meeting discussing the new classes that DSRA had instituted
We were talking about adding no set weight anything goes but nitrous class
Tommy Dunn was really upset because of safety concerns
The reason it worked is they went from 1320 to a 800 foot race course, that kept the top speeds down
When you get over 115 mph you are entering a new zone, especially if you are light
Please be careful. We have invented the world; WE see
